12 Weeks

Today is Smoke-free Day 85. Wow, 12 weeks ago today was my quit day. Cool!

Considering that I've been told that all of the Chantix should be out of my system by tomorrow, I'd say I've got to be pretty close now, and yesterday was just fine, as was the day before that. Still, just tiny extra little tuggings with nothing I can't handle. The beauty is that I feel like I'm getting really good at not smoking, so it just builds on itself day after day making it fairly easy (I'm still not at all easy all the time, but that's OK) to deal with any little tuggings that do make it into my head. Taking a deep breath still helps, just like it did back in the first days. Back then it was breathing and water, but I can't remember the last time I had water because of a craving (though I do drink a good amount of water since it's actually my favorite thing to drink).

Since I posted what I was going to make but not how they turned out when I made them yesterday, here are results:
  • Ginger & Sesame Marinated Steak - I was right to say "Tom will never, ever leave me" because this really was super good.
  • Sesame Broccoli - I thought "more of the same flavors, but I happen to like those flavors," and that is an understatement - these were outstanding, and even Tom, a new Broccoli eater, asked for seconds.
  • Mini Cheese Calzones - Still "Too easy, too yummy" - not fancy, but never disappoints.
  • Marinara Sauce - "For above for dipping and for freezing" - I did that, but I wound up cooking longer after all ingredients were in and also adding more spices, then it was yummy enough to freeze a bunch. Next time I'll try Tasina's tip about grated carrots instead of sugar.
