Last Chantix, End of Taper!

Today is Chantix Day 93 (or day 4 of the 0.25mg dose while tapering) and Smoke-free Day 81. I feel really good today.

Today at lunch time when I take that quarter of a Chantix pill, it will be my last one! I'll still have one left in the pack, and a few from missed doses just in case, but considering how little I've been taking during these last stages of my tapering off Chantix (ask your doctor) and how little change there has been, I'm really not too concerned about it. The just slightly, really slightly, more tuggings than before this past Monday, as well as the breathing thing I posted about yesterday, both seemed to already be mellowing out later in the day yesterday so that it again started feeling as if there was basically no real change going gradually off Chantix. Today, no real issues with either of them, or I'm just better at ignoring it again. In all, the taper to this point has been almost ridiculously smooth. Fingers crossed that this will continue to be the case.

I've posted this before and with more detailed explanation, but since here we are at the end of the Chantix portion of my non-smoker journey, aside from the 5 days before the Chantix should all be out of my system (again, see here on what I learned about that when I asked), here again is the calendar of where I've been, just in case a visual helps. Without this calendar, I would have had no clue from day to day just what dose I had planned for the taper. Click image for larger and clearer version.

  1. Congrats on the end of your taper. I sure hope you don't have much of that breathing issue.

  2. Way to go MAggie! This is great news about today being that last little piece of a pill. I clicked on your calendar and noticed the "on my own". I know that you mean "without Chantix", but dont' forget that many of us are still here to support you and read of your conquests that encourage us.
BTW, we have a Uno's pizza here in Louisville, KY. It's one of my favorite places to eat or hang in the bar.

  3. Ok. I'm probably going to make everyone really mad. I HATE Uno's Pizza. When I moved to St. Louis, everyone just raved about it. I tried and was totally underwhelmed. Give me a New York style deep dish any day. *cringe*

  4. Thanks, Chris! Today, no real strong issues with either breathing or urges.

Thanks, Sherri! Aw, it's nice to know that I'm never alone with all the great support from all of you. I do appreciate it!

Tasina, wow. I will say that Uno's is not my favorite Chicago pizza, but it's one of them. I didn't even know that NY did deep dish. That's OK, my real favorite is from a little place just a few blocks from where I grew up, and theirs isn't deep dish either. Now I'm so craving pizza from home.

  5. Good work. It'll be nice when you are sure it's all out of your system and you realize you can do it on your own too!

    Stay strong!

  6. Thanks, Nathan. I do look forward to doing it all on my own.
