Today is Smoke-free Day 197.
I used to hang out in places where it was pretty common to hear things such as about how much easier it is to keep on the right path than it is to get on the right path to begin with, and this has always seemed true enough to me. Because of that, my biggest resolution headed into the new year (not that I really make resolutions, but many of us at least give the coming year some consideration, right?) is to simply continue not smoking. It's a hell of a lot easier to stay quit than it is to get quit, so the hardest part is already behind me. What a wonderful way to head into a new year in what feels like my whole new life as a new non-smoker (who used to smoke).
Sure, we'll be trying to eat less and move more (because I have gained some since quitting), there are some financial goals, and I could make myself nuts with a long list of other random and miscellaneous crap goals, but really, just not smoking remains priority topmost. I've quit for long periods of time in the past only to return to smoking again, so my mind is on maintaining this great thing I have going all through 2008, one day at a time only, and each day knowing I have to make it just until bedtime, of course (much longer than that still seems kind of intimidating).
I wonder how many more of us Chantix bloggers there will be at the start of the new year when resolutions are still so fresh? Hopefully, bucket loads.
