(no particular order and far from a complete list):
- Ugly Betty - because this is really one of the best shows on TV ever, period complete with satire, comedy, drama, and all good stuff that I didn't expect
- Wife Swap - because "normal" typically falls between the extremes, but they are fun to watch because it makes me feel like I have my shit together
- Lost - because I like it when questions are answered with more questions (instead of ever answering the old questions)
- The Office - the first few seasons made this the best sitcom *ever*, and I hope this season isn't so over the top when it returns
- ER - because it's habit, even if I no longer care whether everyone is killed off, but hoping it comes with dramatic previews shown for weeks in advance of airing
- How I Met Your Mother - because it's just a fun show, and seeing Doogie Howser all growed up still entertains me (especially his smarmy character, Barney)
- Parking Wars - because watching people get really mad when nobody is actually doing anything wrong to them is kind of funny, and these good parking people are just doing a job and paying the bills (similarly, I also liked A&E's Airline show back in the day)
- Samantha Who / Aliens in America - together because I've never watched either when they aired, but both are good shows that I didn't think would be so good
- Big Love - because I *love* this show, bigly, and await the return of a show that seems to show the good and bad of polygamy in an entertaining way (and Margene is just super cute) - for the record, I'm cool with whatever crazy entanglements people care to have with one another, just no teen brides or other icky, thank you
- Kyle XY - because I like the characters and the storyline, mostly, and went to high school with someone who works on the show (as I found out during credits and almost fell of the couch but didn't because the potato chips had grown my ass enough to stop me)
- Desperate Housewives - because it recovered after going off the deep end for awhile and is such a wonderful guilty pleasure to have on a Sunday night before the hell of another suck ass Monday
- Pushing Daisies - because it's original and quirky and likable and features the Pie Hole
- Supernanny - because if I were ever to have kids, I'd want Jo to help me when I ran out of all my non-parent-who-thinks-she-knows-it-all-about-raising-kids-anyway answers (no hate, thx)

You know I'm lovin' me some Lost. Let's petition to get "Jo" a guest spot! ;)
ReplyDeleteP.S. Someone flamed Julie's rant - go drop more love on her if you get a chance.
Cool, another TT about TV shows.
ReplyDeleteI quit smoking in feb. 2007, it was my 1 anniversary 3 weeks ago and I'm really proud. I used zyban. Chantix didn't exist here then.
Have a great week!
I don't think I could come up with 13 shows that I watch regularly, but we do have one in common that we both like: Samantha Who?
ReplyDeleteI love the whole premise of that show and think the actors are well cast in their parts.
Great list!
congrats on smoke free days!
ReplyDeleteme, I am ice cream free 113 days :)
Great job on this TT. I like how you gave reasons why you are looking forward to the shows returning, instead of just listing the show titles.
ReplyDeleteI am also looking forward to the return of my favorite show of the 2007-08 season, "Pushing Daisies". At the end of every episode, I have a smile on my face.
"How I Met Your Mother" is a show that I have been getting into lately. Along with "Two and A Half Men" and "The New Adventures of Old Christine", Monday nights on CBS is one of the better lineups in primetime.
Love Lost.. I watch it online now. ER lost me, and I was really pissed when I heard that they were messing with Abby and Luka. Can't anyone. Just. Be. Happy?
ReplyDeleteMy husband commented that being a writer for Lost would be a dream job. The story lines never have to have an ending!
ReplyDeleteThe best How I Met Your Mother was the one about the present at the bridal shower. Of course, I was watching it with my 14 year old daughter, so that was a little awkward.
ReplyDeleteBoth Samantha Who and Pushing Daisies were show that turned out much better than I expected...I'm looking forward to seeing them again. Another one that surprised me was Chuck.
ReplyDeleteExcellent. thanks for this info, my love will be ecstatic! lol I don't know that I will be so happy tho.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the smoking thing.
I am now smoke free for almost 18 years. It gets easier and easier and before you know it a whole year will have passed! Well done!
ReplyDeleteI agree about The Office and Ugly Betty. I also can't wait for 30 Rock to resume.
You hit the nail on the head absolutely about ER. I watch it out of habit. Same with those awful Desperate Housewives.
Hi Maggie!
ReplyDeleteI was just catching up on some blog reading and saw that your dad had surgery. I'm so glad that it went well. I will say a prayer for a complete recovery. :)
Congratulations on getting through something as stressful as that and not smoke. You go girl!
ER use to be my favorite show of all. Not so much anymore with all of the cast changes and I hate how they take off during the middle of the season. grrr!!!
Right now my faves are American Idol, Survivor and Jericho. :)
Keep up the quits everyone. It's so cool to be a non-smoker!
Man i love most of those show too! Thank you for posting on my site. Congrats on being smoke free! That is truly awesome. My husband smokes and he says it is the hardest thing to quit.
ReplyDeleteKudos to you!
I'm looking forward to The Office and one you didn't have on your list - Moonlight
ReplyDeleteHappy TT!!
I had forgotten all about Pushing Daisies and Samantha Who? I really like both of them, and Wife Swap just cracks me up and definitely makes me feel like if my shit is not together, at least it is not as spread out as some peoples'...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments to the flamer, BTW. I love how anon. jumped right to the idea that I was advocating hedonism -- I start laughing every time I think of that. People are so freaking uptight. I thought your comment was great. Thanks!
Hey ya maggie......Glad to hear your dad made it through surgery ok.
ReplyDeleteKool Thursday thirteen.......I am sure I could come up with at least 13. hhahahaaha
Happy Another day smoke free. :-)
I'm so glad your dad is doing well! I don't watch much tv, but I do like my Grey's Anatomy, so I'm hoping that comes back on the air soon.
ReplyDeleteI do not watch very much tv - I have heard these names mentioned though.
ReplyDeleteI watch also ER and Lost :D
ReplyDeleteWill you visit mine :D Thanks
