Minus One Bit O' Green

Today is smoke-free day 274. I'm wearing my green. I'm well into my corned beef brisket, with cabbage/potatoes (gotta start early when you are one person). I've been sucking down Nutty Irishman lattes (add to an already perfectly good latte: hazelnut and Irish cream - or mint extract, if that's what you have, and I know because that's what I have, and it worked!) all weekend (big kids version with real alcohol is here, if needed). I'm a whopping 25% Irish (100% today), and I'm good to go. I'm not smoking today, even if I used to kind of think that the whole menthol cigarette poison sucking thing fit with the whole green theme (I also thought menthol smokes were "refreshing," proving how excellent marketing can be). I don't really feel like I'm missing out on anything minus that bit o' green. In fact, I feel excellent, all shower fresh smelling and refreshed and full of life! It's a great day to be alive, and I love St. Patrick's Day. Fresh. Happy. Minty. Green. Spring.

  2. I quit smoking (cold turkey) 26 years, 1 month and three days ago. I was two packs a day Marlboro's smoker. Never regretted it. Not to say it was easy. But I never regretted it. I saw your comment at Secret Agent Mama. There's a site you might like to explore. It may help you begin to find yourself as a photographer. It is: http://www.luminous-landscape.com/contents/index.shtml

You will find all sorts of help here. You will learn things to help you become a better photographer. The thing to keep in mind is that it is the photographer, not necessarily the camera, that makes the photograph.

  5. You are my idol when it comes to not smoking. I've cut way back, but alas, I'm still buying into that 'refreshing' quality of a menthol.

Happy St. Patrick's Day! (I actually forgot it was until I read your post.)

    You go, girl!

  7. Brandie, yes, green is much, much better!

Lceel, thanks for stopping by! I appreciate both your photo site tip and also the inspiration to keep on not smoking. 26 years is awhile ;)

    Thanks, Huckdoll. 'Twas yummy!

You, too, Tasina! This is getting to be habit.

Suzanne, believe me, I understand that. Cutting back is a start.

Thanks, Tabatha! Yep, good stuff this St. Pats.

  8. Happy St. Paddy's day Maggie....I laughed my ass off about what you said about menthols being "refreshing!" I used to love telling people when I was sick it was ok if I smoked because I was smoking menthols and they were refreshing and "soothing" for my throat! What a bunch of bullsh*& that was! I even believed it...go figure! Sometimes I think its easier to believe the lies than deal with the reality of killing yourself slowly. I miss reading your blog!
    Peace,
    Diva

  9. Yep, Mz Diva. Guilty. I thought the menthol helped with my cough. It did feel good while puffing, but within minutes it was terrible.
