Maggie Math

Today is smoke-free day 360, and this is a quickie. God help us, Maggie's doing math again.

This time next week, on Wednesday, June 18, 2008, it will be a year to the calendar date since I quit smoking. Oddly enough, it will be on day 367, not Day 365.

Since I started counting on that first day when I woke up and realized that I was done and called it Day One instead of waiting until the next day to declare that it had already been a day, that would already make this coming June 18th Day 366 (follow?), but then 2007 was a Leap Year, so that added yet another day, Day 367.

Now my brain hurts. Thankfully I only have to do this one day at a time, even now.

  1. I'm so proud of your quit Maggie!! I'm behind, albeit a few months but I'll make it, I'm not going to smoke again.
Don't you feel empowered, like you could take on the world?

  2. Thanks, MamaFlo. I definitely do feel empowered, and I'm glad you do, too. Such a big thing to do, quitting smoking, and if we can do this, we can do anything :)

  3. Ohhh...June 18th is my birthday!!!

I'll be 17 days quit by then. I would like a hat....

    Congrats! You're an inspiration, Maggie!!

  4. yay!!! that is AWESOME! you should be soooo proud of yourself for committing that long! And staying committed!

Congratulations! And congratulations on the stellar math skills!

  5. It's been a little while since I've posted here Maggie. I knew it was approaching your anniversary and just had to say, "You are the BOMBE!" I turn 50 next week and am getting close to my anniversary, too. I have nothing but well wishes and good karma to send in your direction. Peace, be safe, and Have FUN!

  6. regardless of the extra days, you are so wonderful for sticking with it.

  7. Yay, Huckdoll, yay!

Thank you, Kathryn. I'm amazed, too. :)

Christie, I'd never heard stellar and my math skills in the same sentence without the word not :)

Sherri, it's so nice to see some of the others that I met back at the start of this journey also making it!

Aw, thanks, Holly. Lots more extra days to go, a day at a time :)

  8. Down with math! Down with math!

I'm so excited for you to make the full year - whether it be 365 or 367 days!

However, since it's 367, I think you should get a large piece of chocolate for that. :-)

  9. Maggie, your blog was the first I started reading and has been the most helpful! Not that I don't love blogging with every single one of you but Maggie's Mind help me look into the mind of a hard core smoker and think, "If she can do it, so can I!" Fortunatly, you e-mailed me when I was "considering" quitting with Chantix and helped me make one of the best decisions of my life. I am so happy that you are going to be the first one of us to get a year! Lots of us will be following close behind and I for one want to say not only congratulations but thanks for helping me become a true Diva in the House of Chanitix! You are da bomb!!

  10. This post made feel very giddy on the inside! :)) Also, a little too conscious of how fast the time goes by, but that's irrelevant to this huge, ginormous event soon-to-come! I so want to celebrate this with you, Maggie!

  11. Thank you, Diva and Stan. Both of you have been a part of my quit, and I am grateful.

  12. Do you have to be so confusing?

I've had a really hard week, and you're driving me crazy here... ;)

btw, you last had a cigarette on WonderHubby's 36th birthday! :D

    Have a great weekend.

  13. Jane, it is so hard to keep straight that once I go it straight I had to put it where I could find it again ;)

Talk to me.
