Maggie Math

Today is smoke-free day 360, and this is a quickie. God help us, Maggie's doing math again.

This time next week, on Wednesday, June 18, 2008, it will be a year to the calendar date since I quit smoking. Oddly enough, it will be on day 367, not Day 365.

Why?

Since I started counting on that first day when I woke up and realized that I was done and called it Day One instead of waiting until the next day to declare that it had already been a day, that would already make this coming June 18th Day 366 (follow?), but then 2007 was a Leap Year, so that added yet another day, Day 367.

Now my brain hurts. Thankfully I only have to do this one day at a time, even now.

  1. I'm so proud of your quit Maggie!! I'm behind, albeit a few months but I'll make it, I'm not going to smoke again.
Don't you feel empowered, like you could take on the world?

  5. It's been a little while since I've posted here Maggie. I knew it was approaching your anniversary and just had to say, "You are the BOMBE!" I turn 50 next week and am getting close to my anniversary, too. I have nothing but well wishes and good karma to send in your direction. Peace, be safe, and Have FUN!

Sherri, it's so nice to see some of the others that I met back at the start of this journey also making it!

Aw, thanks, Holly. Lots more extra days to go, a day at a time :)

  8. Down with math! Down with math!

I'm so excited for you to make the full year - whether it be 365 or 367 days!

However, since it's 367, I think you should get a large piece of chocolate for that. :-)

  9. Maggie, your blog was the first I started reading and has been the most helpful! Not that I don't love blogging with every single one of you but Maggie's Mind help me look into the mind of a hard core smoker and think, "If she can do it, so can I!" Fortunatly, you e-mailed me when I was "considering" quitting with Chantix and helped me make one of the best decisions of my life. I am so happy that you are going to be the first one of us to get a year! Lots of us will be following close behind and I for one want to say not only congratulations but thanks for helping me become a true Diva in the House of Chanitix! You are da bomb!!
    Peace,
    Diva

  10. This post made feel very giddy on the inside! :)) Also, a little too conscious of how fast the time goes by, but that's irrelevant to this huge, ginormous event soon-to-come! I so want to celebrate this with you, Maggie!
