Waiting...

Today is smoke-free day 366 (and I'll celebrate the One Year mark by calendar date tomorrow and leave you again with this explanation in Maggie Math if you missed it).

Most Tuesdays I like to do the weekly Heads or Tails meme because it's fun to stretch my mind and see what others do with the same one word. This week was to be HEADS *OR* TAILS - Wait *OR* Weight, but apparently it's been canceled at the last minute (?). In the spirit of doing what I please, I'm playing anyway, even if I have nowhere to link, but I did include a Mr Linky below if you are playing and would like to add your link.

If you have never heard the song below after my sappy love letter, it really is worth a listen - her voice is so rich and delicious, and this tender song surely speaks to you about someone at some time in your life, no?

Waiting...
My Dearest Tom,

I will wait for us through this "apartness" until the moment is right. As patient as I often am not, and as much as the distance seems to grow even more distant, our hearts are pulling us closer despite the miles. Slowly, carefully, deliberately laying the groundwork for a our lives together as one, a life I simply cannot wait to start, and yet a life I'm willing to wait for if needed as long as is necessary because you are worth it, and we are worth it.

Until we are home in the arms of one another, I send you my love and a song with both lyrics and melody that sing the music of you in my heart because it speaks the truth when it says that your arms are where all my journeys end. XOXOXO

All my love, always.

Maggie

The Promise by Tracy Chapman
(Album: New Beginning)

If you wait for me then I'll come for you
Although I've traveled far
I always hold a place for you in my heart
If you think of me, if you miss me once in awhile
Then I'll return to you
I'll return and fill that space in your heart

Remembering
Your touch
Your kiss
Your warm embrace
I'll find my way back to you
If you'll be waiting
If you dream of me like I dream of you
In a place thats warm and dark
In a place where I can feel the beating of your heart

Remembering
Your touch
Your kiss
Your warm embrace
I'll find my way back to you
If you'll be waiting
I've longed for you and I have desired
To see your face your smile
To be with you wherever you are

Remembering
Your touch
Your kiss
Your warm embrace
I'll find my way back to you
If you'll be waiting
I've longed for you and I have desired
To see your face, your smile
To be with you wherever you are

Remembering
Your touch
Your kiss
Your warm embrace
I'll find my way back to you
Please say you'll be waiting

Together again
It would feel so good to be
In your arms
Where all my journeys end
If you can make a promise if its one that you can keep, I vow to come for you
If you wait for me and say you'll hold
A place for me in your heart.

  1. Wow ... this is really touching and a special post! I'm glad you decided to go ahead and share ... and that you left the comment at the HoTs Hub so we could find it.

Thanks also for putting up the Mr. Linky. Mine's been up a couple of hours at Small Reflections. I did BOTH Wait and Weight. Call me obsessive ;--)

  2. Thanks for dropping by Small Reflections. I added a link back here at the end of my post so others can sign the Mr. Linky. Guess I should do that too because methinks I neglected to do it on my last visit.

  6. I enjoyed your blog! Still so much to read...
Thanks for leaving a comment on mine. I'm off Chantix for now (they found it was making me depressed). Another blogger mentioned taking Welbutrin and Chantix so I'm going to try that if dr. lets me. Your blog gives me hope :) That's an amazing accomplishment to have quit for a full year (and a day :)
****Congratulations**** to you-- you deserve it :)

  17. ok. i had to stop playing the song for fear that falling tears would ruin my new keyboard.

oh how apartness just breaks my heart. my husband and i were long distance before we got married and worse than waiting for me was always the goodbye at the end of the visit. i would cry my eyes out for hours and hours (i don't handle being apart very well)

    anyway, what a beautiful post!
i know it must be hard. but yes, it's worth it. thank you for sharing that beautiful letter.

ps. if i were doing heads or tails, you know which weight/wait i'd choose! i'm obsessed!

  20. Awesome post! Unfortunantly I can't listen to the song while at work, but I can imagine. I love Tracey Chapman's voice -- it's so deep and rich. I'll try to remember to check it out sometime when I'm not (supposed to be) working.

  21. Ah Maggie,
Your post makes me want to be in love again! The last relationship I had was a real heartbreaker and did not end well. After four years, I am ready to hop back on the horse again and this time pick a better partner! You and Tom sound like you have a great relationship and I can't wait until you post and tell use about the next phase of "togetherness!"
    Peace,
    Diva
