Quick Thanks

Today is smoke-free day 393, and I'm feeling much better than I was when I was having a small meltdown on Saturday.

I'm mostly back to normal in terms of way fewer smoking thoughts, and the crazy breathing thing is almost gone, too. Additionally, some of the apparent hurdles that were stressing me out related to "the apartness" are simply no longer there (nutshell version: we were going to have to react more quickly than prepared to some housing issues; now we have more time to be more prepared, and you know that's way more my speed - anal cautious, careful, prudent), so that helps me to breathe more easily, too.

Many thanks for all of the kind thoughts.

Then, just for fun and because I've been toying with my pictures and s-l-o-w-l-y learning some new tricks, you get a picture of Daddy's Girl:

  1. Aww, sorry I wasn't there to encourage you on your Saturday post! I'm glad you're doing so much better now, though!

That picture is really gorgeous. I love how it's grayed out except for the eyes. Beautiful!

  2. Well done, you. Well done. I KNEW you could do it. The thing I found, after having quit for a while, is that I didn't want to wind up wasting the time and effort I'd put into the process of quitting. I just didn't want to waste my time. And that helped me STAY quit.

  4. I don't know how I missed your Saturday post, and now I feel really bad. :-( I thought I spent like most of the weekend on the computer.
I also don't know why but I feel kind of guilty that the smoking urges seemed to be affecting all my new friends (you and Jude in particular) and all I've done for four weeks is go on and on and on about smoking, having a cig blah blah - you know. I do hope that I am not a contributing factor!
You seem fine now, so well done. You know you're an inspiration!

  11. Thank you all again for your kind thoughts.

For those who asked how I did the photo, I was experimenting with layers and finally am starting to understand them. For the eyes, basically I kept the bottom layer picture as is in color. I added a layer on top that I made more black and white, and then I erased the area of the eyes on the top layer so that the bottom would come through. Yes, I'd seen this effect *months* ago and couldn't get a simple answer on how to do it, but that's how I did it. Hopefully that was somewhat simple. I'm totally new to the layers thing, but it was fun!
