Thursday Thirteen 7/3/08 24th Edition

13 Red, White and Blue Patriotic Themed Recipes
for the 4th of July

(though I bet they taste great on any day)

Breakfast:
1. Pancakes or crepes with strawberries, blueberries and whipped cream
(or the same fruit on top of basic cupcakes)
2. Red, (Egg) White and Blue Omelette

Bonus: The other recipes that sounded excellent to me are in my 4th of July Red White and Blue Cookbook, and there are more great ideas here and here (though they may contain some of the same ones).

Today is smoke-free day 382, and I'm still counting.

The purpose of the meme is to get to know everyone who participates a little bit better every Thursday. Visiting fellow Thirteeners is encouraged! If you participate, leave the link to your Thirteen in others' comments. It’s easy, and fun! Trackbacks, pings, comment links accepted!

  1. Great idea for a Thursday 13. I checked out the Patriotic Twinkies. My kids would love those and they're easy enough for them to make.

  3. Great list, mine is up at 13 Not So Famous Last Words; Most Americans die peacefully in their beds, but for those who die violently one can only guess what their final words must have been. I think that after you read these you will have to agree that they do indeed sound like they might have been the last words of those who did not go peacefully into the night.

  8. 12 and 13 work for me. Good job on the smoke-free count. I quit smoking on February 14, 1982. I gave it to my wife as a Valentine's Day present. I don't know how many days that is, but my 'Addiction' stopped shouting in my ear a long time ago.

  9. What a yummy sounding list of recipes.
Good luck staying 'smoke free.' I've gone several years without cigarettes and I promise you it's worth it.
Have a fun and safe 4th.

Guess who is doing laundry tonight? ;)

  13. Going to make the bluecheese burger tonight. Not with the steak though - with a ready made burger!

  14. Oh man,...this kills me reading this before eating lunch :) Minus the Slaw salad, it's all making my mouth water!

    LOVE the patriotic twinkies ;)

  15. Great list Maggie. I'll start with the Jello shots and move on to the margaritas. Moving on from there would serve no purpose so that's where I'll stay. Happy TT
