The Monday Method

Today is smoke-free day 435, and no matter how many times I look at the calendar, I continue to notice that it still keeps being Monday. What is that all about, I wonder?

I suppose this is good because "Monday" is when I kept saying to myself (yes, out loud, sometimes) that I'd get back out of the bad habits I'd gotten back into with eating everything in sight with complete and delicious abandon while my nephew was visiting and then after that eating even more while "feeding a cold" with a whole bunch of yummy because that's what you are supposed to do (right? feed a cold, starve a fever?).

Anyway, my mom always subscribed to the Monday Method of getting back on track after not being on track (at least until Tuesday). She didn't call it that, but that's what it is and shall heretofore be named by me because naming random stuff is my favorite.

Words of Wisdom: It's so much easier to stay on track than it is to get back on track.

Put that in your pipe and (don't) smoke it (that one's as my grandma used to say - generations of wisdom and sayings all right here in one blog post, lucky you!).

Are you doing the Monday Method of starting or renewing anything this week?

  1. Monday is ALWAYS a start-all-over for me. I pick up threads from the previous week. I start new stuff. everything starts on Monday. Which is why SWMBO tries to disappear on Monday nights.

SWMBO = She Who Must Be Obeyed

  2. Um...yeah, I've been eating like a total moron for a few months now and today wa sposed to be get on track day. But then I took my final and that plan went to hell. Maybe tomorrow?

  3. Yes...I simply HAVE to start taking advantage of the two tacos for 99¢ deal at Jack in the Box again. How can you afford NOT to eat them! ;)

  4. It seems I'm always trying to get back on track. Ugh.

  5. I love Mondays. As much as the weekends are fun with my husband home, Monday means I can do my own routine and not feel disappointed that I don't get the household help I want. Plus, it means I get to be online again! (I generally stay off on the weekends...)

  6. That'a great name! The Monday Method. And yep, I sure do it pretty much every week! It's like Mondays are the "restart" button. Like when you're playing a video game and you lose two of your guys in the first level and think, aww crap, I'm just gonna start over..

My eating is great during the week and crap on the weekend which totally undoes all my good-doing during the week so then I wind up hitting restart on Monday and trying to get through the week all fresh and with maybe only one restaurant outing -- until the following Monday when I wake up and say, sheesh, I did it again! Restart!

  7. I've never heard of that before but it makes sense - The Monday Method. I like it.

I'm jumping back into the whole diet and exercise thing again. I. will. succeed.

  8. Thank you, dear! My pipe is stuffed now full of your words of generational wisdom! Simple things like that, when reinforced like this, are very powerful! Imma stay smober till I get some more inspiration from you! It's really, really crazy to be completely smokefree like this for almost two months now! Thanks!
