Today's Post is Brought to You by the Letter G

Today is smoke-free day 484, and time for Heads or Tails.
Today is HEADS - Anything that starts with the letter G.

Getting Going - I woke up a little late this morning, but I took the world's fastest shower (OK, I probably only just broke my own record, nobody else's), and I even made it in time for a Starbucks treat of a Pumpkin Spice Latte because I deserve one today after yesterday, and I still made it to work pretty much on time. Amazing.

Goodbyes - I hate goodbyes. October is a big month full of goodbyes for me on too many levels, but even more so than usual these days, and this past weekend in particular saying goodbye to both someone and at the same time to yet another piece of some of my favorite memories - the delicious and fun times I spent living in Japan. One of my favorite lines about goodbyes that has stuck in my head since the day I heard it is from a Kenny Chesney song, Better As a Memory (the rest is also a really great song, so much truth and makes me feel grateful I found my Tom and that our temporary goodbye of "the apartness" is almost back to hello again):

"Cause goodbyes are like a roulette wheel
You never know where they're gonna land"
-Kenney Chesney, Better As a Memory

Gingersnaps (Dipped Gingersnaps, to be exact)
- Last but not least, no Letter G post would be complete without mention of these delicacies that I made these last year. They were divine, as in "oh my gawd, these are good!" - a few bonus g's there. Enjoy!

  1. UMM those ginger snaps sound tasty, tasty tasty. That is one very good G. I like that song, but of course Kenny Chesney is an awesome artist.

I hope your hello comes again soon

  3. Maggie,
Gingersnaps are not on my "Hot for the Holidays" diet plan! LOL! I wish I could have just one and not have to bake a whole batch!

  4. I love this post! Gingersnaps - one of my fave cookies. (Anna's Ginger Thins) I'm not fond of goodbyes.at.all.

  5. I went to Starbuck's tonight and I had a pumpkin spice latte.

    It was fabulous.

I was at Costco the other day, and they were selling $100 worth of gift cards for $80! I now have $80 worth of Starbuck's yumminess in my wallet (I had to give one $20 card to my husband...)

I love the photo in your weekly winners of the railroad tracks. Very cool how far you can see.

And your T13 cracked me up. I also hate the folding and putting away part of the laundry. I love doing laundry. Stuffing it into the washer is so satisfying, but folding. Ugh.
(Yup. I was just getting caught up on your blog...)

  8. What happened yesterday? Just a crappy day?
I am always reminded of what a friend of the family once told my mom. "When you get to be my age you realize that life is just one big goodbye."
Pretty depressing, but sometimes it feels so true.
