Busy Girl

I'm still not caught up on anything - blog reading, emails, the laundering of the handful of clothes that I brought in the car that have to last until the moving van gets here, signing my part of the lease that Tom already signed, finding my mailbox to see what mail has been forwarded from the old (hopefully not bills because Oregon can keep that brand of mail). Still, I've now had my burger at Braum's and picked out the flavor of the 3 pint size I'll buy next trip (I'm a virgin with the take home ice cream from Braum's, so the moment and mood needs to be just right), and I also finally did locate shower curtain rings for less than $2 yesterday, so the curtain is hung and awaiting dirty bodies. I now haz internetz at home and have found a laundromat that has wifi since my home still has no washer/dryer (something that must change and soon), so I'll be headed there hopefully to catch up on at least a few blogs in between washing. Somewhere in there, the cats also need food since is misjudged how much they eat (roughly 3 times as much as I expected - no wonder I feel like they run me out of money). At least I'm more well rested sleeping on the air mattress instead of the floor last night, and I'm counting down until my real bed arrives because the whole camping out in a mostly empty apartment thing is fun but not as fun as sleeping in a real bed like a big girl. A big girl with lots I must now go do.

Thank you for continuing to read while I've been not keeping up. I will be because I miss y'all.

  3. "I'm just sittin' here, sittin' back, lovin' you." as the song goes. Although, you gotta stop talking about food right before lunch. God, I'm hungry.

  6. My friend had to wait a couple months for their stuff, because they were in temporary housing...her husband started to like the whole idea of having almost nothing and wanted to get rid of most of their stuff. Just have beds and a table and chairs, enough dishes for everybody to eat a meal, a couch and a tv stand.

In a five bedroom house with four kids.

Amazingly enough, my friend did not go for it, and in fact bought a new dining room table and is still looking for a couch...

We moved to and from Europe twice, and it takes forever to get your stuff. So we lived with Army furniture, which is awful and ugly and not particularly comfortable, and whatever we could manage to stuff in two suitcases each. One entire suitcase on the way to The Netherlands was devoted to family shoes, and another had Star Wars and GI Joes. Gotta pack the important stuff, you know?

  11. You'll be all settled well before I ever will, and we moved here 3 years ago. You have no idea how many boxes are still packed, with no end in sight to when they will be unpacked. I'm thinking maybe they should all just be loaded back onto a truck and taken to Goodwill, Salvation Army, something - because obviously WE don't need the stuff!
