State of Grace

About a week ago, dear Lotus invited me over to Grace in Small Things. I'd never heard of it, but I immediately fell in love with it, and I've been doing one quick and dirty blog post over there each day since. Each post is a short little snapshot of something that crossed my mind that day for which I am grateful. There are just so very many things, really. Even on a truly terrible day there is at least one thing that is good. Often it's just a matter of remembering to remember. For many years in my life I had reason to remember pretty much daily, and it's kind of nice to be back in the habit again. It's not that I'm farting sunshine and pansies with the fresh scent of spring drying on the line, but it does kind of feel that way for just a moment when I stop to take the time to smile, and that's way better than the not so fresh feeling that comes from focusing on the negatives with poopy pants.

If you haven't been over there and think you might be interested, come check it out! There are a lot of great people over there, and you are welcome to start any time and do your thing however you'd like, whether a list of 5 things each day or a little blurb about one or whatever makes you smile.

If you want to add my Grace in Small Things posts to your reader instead of bouncing all over the place to read my drivel, this is the link for the RSS feed.

Off to smile.

  1. thank you for sharing this--I will definitely do this! I remember reading a while ago in some magazine that writing down one positive thing a day is good for mental health. I've always meant to do it, but always forget--this will keep me honest. :)

  3. Grace in small things is one of the best things on the web. Schmutzie has really found a way to make the internet a true, caring, community. Love her, and it, and you for joining up and sharing it.

  4. Oh, I hopped on over there and read all your posts. Reading little things people are happy about can sometimes be, well, reading about little things. Not that little things are bad - not at all. But you write about them so well, that anyone can see how sometimes such small things really ARE big things in everyday life. Thanks for the smiles!

  8. Thanks for sharing this. I use to keep a "Thankful Journal" where I would write down 5 or so things each day that made me smile, but then I got out of the habbit. You have inspired me to start it up again : )
